Nervous U.S. Soldiers and ‘Innocent’ Iraqis

Share

“Iraqi Civilians Fall Victim to Hair Triggers” (Commentary, Oct. 21) is compassionate toward the so-called “innocent” civilians of Iraq. How many of our brave young men and women have lost their lives to these innocent civilians? These same innocent civilians are the ones who ambush, bushwhack and even have the nerve to walk up to a U.S. soldier, shoot him in the head and simply walk away. Of course U.S. soldiers are going to be on edge when they know that the enemy could be standing right next to them.

U.S. soldiers do care about the Iraqi civilians. They did not ask to go to Iraq; they went anyway to free Iraqis from the tyranny of Saddam Hussein’s regime. What about the rights of the U.S. soldiers when their body bags are brought back to their families?
