Attacks Claim Lives of 3 U.S. Soldiers in Iraq

Three American soldiers were killed and four wounded in two separate attacks in Iraq, the U.S. military said Monday.

A roadside bomb killed two 1st Armored Division soldiers on patrol Sunday in Baghdad and wounded two others, a military statement said.

In Abu Ghraib, on the western edge of Baghdad, one soldier was killed and two were wounded Sunday in an attack on their military police unit, according to the statement.

The Pentagon also announced Monday that Pfc. Steven Acosta, 19, of Calexico, Calif., died Sunday in Baqubah, Iraq, from a non-hostile gunshot wound. Acosta was assigned to C Company, 3rd Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Ft. Hood, Texas.

The reported American death toll since the war began is 351.
