Rescuers Search in Vain for Man Lost in Surf
From Times Wire Reports
Rescuers searched the Gulf of Mexico by helicopter for a man who vanished in rough surf, one of four people believed to have drowned off Panhandle beaches during the holiday weekend.
“We are just waiting for a body to surface,” said Greg Pearson, a spokesman for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was missing off the coast of the Gulf Island National Seashore, where three people drowned over the weekend.
