Children Left Behind

Share

Though I can empathize with those at schools that are going to be running out of paper towels and toilet paper (letter, Sept. 3), where is the outcry about a more serious situation? School funds that have provided many special programs for children who need additional help have been greatly reduced. For the last six years I have been responsible for a program that assisted 60 children in improving their reading and math skills. The program will not exist this year. This is a problem not only in our school district but across the state and country. How many of these children will be left behind?
