On display: The Emancipation Proclamation, issued by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862 to end slavery in the Confederacy, will be on display at the Central Library in downtown L.A. for four days in December, part of a larger exhibition running from Oct. 4 to Jan. 4, “American Originals: Treasures From the National Archives.” They will include the Louisiana Purchase Treaty and Thomas Edison’s patent application for the electric lamp.
