Sheriff Baca Endorses Mayor Hahn’s LAX Plan
From Times Staff Writers
Sheriff Lee Baca endorsed Mayor James K. Hahn’s $9-billion modernization plan for Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday.
The sheriff said he believes Hahn’s proposal would make the world’s fifth-busiest airport more secure, in part by banning private vehicles from the airport’s horseshoe-shaped access road. Baca joins other prominent law enforcement officials who have given Hahn’s plan a thumbs up.
The city’s airport agency is conducting a public comment period on the plan through Nov. 7.
