Skepticism of Bush

Share

A pleasure seeing Howard Rosenberg’s smiling byline again (“The Making of the President, 2001,” Sept. 7). Thanks for infusing at least a little skepticism where we need it most, especially in regard to Mr. Bush’s direct quotes: “Tell ‘em come over and get me. I’ll be home.” Pretty funny coming from a guy who spends most of his time as far away from the Blight House as he can. Odd, where most pols with grandiose ambition struggle their whole lives to get into the White House, Bush struggles to avoid it. Must be the carpeting.

I couldn’t bring myself to endure the further media lionization of our upwardly failing ruler. While the rest of the nation and satellite-connected world sat glued to their TV screens watching as events unfolded on 9/11, the commander in chief sat in a preschool class listening to children read to him, even after he was told the second plane had hit the second tower.

Thanks again, Howard. Our outlook is greatly enhanced by your perspective.
