Boston Archbishop Sean P. O’Malley, wading into a small knot of protesters after Mass, said more needs to be done to heal the wounds of the church’s sexual-abuse scandal.

O’Malley talked with victims and advocates in the impromptu sidewalk meeting after one of the protesters approached the archbishop as he shook the hands of parishioners as they left Boston’s cathedral.

“We want to make sure that all of the survivors get all the help they need,” O’Malley said.

O’Malley made the comments days after the announcement that the archdiocese had reached a settlement of $85 million with 552 alleged clergy sex-abuse victims.
