Tribune Backs Free Tabloid in New York

Tribune Co., owner of the Los Angeles Times, is backing a new daily newspaper in New York aimed at young commuters, the latest attempt by the newspaper industry to draw in younger readers.
The free tabloid, to be called amNewYork, will be published Monday through Friday beginning this fall, Tribune announced.
Tribune shares rose 55 cents to close at $45.79 on the NYSE.
