Qualcomm Says It Will Reach Top of Forecasts

Qualcomm Inc. said it expected sales and profit this fiscal quarter to reach the high end of its forecasts.
The San Diego company, whose digital wireless communications systems are used by 145 million people, said chip shipments would total about 20 million in the three months ending Sept. 28, the midpoint of a July forecast.
It said sales of higher-priced phone microchips would bring it to the top of its projections.
Shares of Qualcomm rose $1.44 to $44.89 on Nasdaq.
