These contributions were reported by major candidates on the recall ballot who have received at least $100,000 for their gubernatorial campaigns. Totals are for all contributions through Aug. 23 and for contributions of $1,000 or more through Friday. Donations of $1,000 or more must be reported within 24 hours of receipt. Candidates may, but are not required to, report weekend contributions.

Candidate or committee: Cruz Bustamante

Total reported: 552 contributions, $2,865,733

* The Valley View Casino, owned by the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, contributed $21,200.* Magna Entertainment Corp., one of the nation’s largest owners of horse racetracks and electronic wagering, gave the same amount. Kazan, McClain, Edises Abrams, et al., an Oakland law firm that specializes in asbestos litigation, contributed $21,200; the group has also given $100,000 to Gov. Gray Davis’ anti-recall committee.

Bustamante controls three other committees:

Californians for Stability is an anti-recall fund that has raised $425,044. The Cruz Bustamante Committee Against Prop. 54 has collected more than $4.5 million, most of it transferred from the Lt. Gov. Bustamante 2002 Committee, an old reelection campaign fund. That committee reported raising more than $900,000, excluding the transfers.

* Lively, Ackerman and Cody, “a partnership of Christian attorneys,” according to partner Scott Lively, contributed $10,000. The group gave $2,375 in August.

* The wife of Henry Samueli, co-founder of Broadcom, a communications technology company, contributed $21,200; Samueli gave the same amount last week. The son and daughter-in-law of San Diego Chargers owner Alex Spanos each gave $21,200. The contributions double the total the Spanos family has given, to $84,800. Vinod Khosla, former chief executive of software giant Sun Microsystems, also gave $21,200.

Schwarzenegger also controls Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall, a pro-recall committee, which has raised more than $1.2 million.

Gov. Gray Davis controls this anti-recall committee.

* La Posta Band of Mission Indians gave $50,000; the tribe also has contributed $5,000 to Bustamante’s campaign. Sony Pictures Entertainment made a $25,000 donation. Teleflora, a Massachusetts-based network of flower retailers, gave $16,500.

Davis also continues to raise money through his former reelection committee, the Gov. Gray Davis Committee, which has transferred more than $1 million to Californians Against the Costly Recall. Excluding the transfers, the old campaign fund has raised more than $420,000.

* Three Indian tribes that operate casinos -- the United Auburn Indian Community, the Pala Band of Mission Indians, and the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians -- each gave $25,000.

A third committee, Taxpayers Against the Governor’s Recall, has reported more than $2.7 million in contributions.

*Contributions to candidates from each outside source are limited to $21,200. There is no cap on the amount candidates can give their own campaigns, or on donations to noncandidacy committees.
