Boy, 14, Gets Caught in Gang Gunfire, Dies
A 14-year-old boy was caught in gang gunfire on his block and killed Tuesday, authorities said.
Witnesses said the boy had just taken trash cans to the curb and was sitting on the hood of a car in his yard when five shots rang out. Several neighbors ran to help.
“It appears, preliminarily, that the shooting was gang-related, but the victim was not a gang member,” said Lt. Larry Lincoln, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
The shooting occurred about 4 p.m. in the 4300 block of Tuttle Street when a driver fired on a suspected gang member on foot, Lincoln said.
The boy died at County-USC Medical Center.
