These contributions were reported by major candidates on the Oct. 7 ballot who have received at least $100,000 for their gubernatorial campaigns. Totals are for all contributions through Sept. 20, and for contributions of $1,000 or more through Friday. Donations of $1,000 or more must be reported within 24 hours of receipt.

* Hollywood nightclub owner Eugene LaPietra contributed $10,000. He also has given $50,000 to Gov. Gray Davis’ anti-recall efforts. Gordon, Edelstein, Krepack, Grant, Felton and Goldstein, a Los Angeles law firm that specializes in personal injury suits, gave $5,000.

Bustamante controls three other committees:

Californians for Stability is an anti-recall fund that has raised $421,186. The Cruz Bustamante Committee Against Prop. 54 has collected more than $4.6 million, most of it transferred from the Lt. Gov. Bustamante 2002 Committee, an old reelection campaign fund. Excluding the transfers, the fund has reported raising $914,500.

* The California State Employees Assn., a union that represents state workers, contributed $50,000 to the anti-Proposition 54 committee, raising the union’s total support for the fund to nearly $100,000.

* Roberta Ahmanson, a former religion writer for the Orange County Register, contributed $21,200*. Ahmanson is the wife of conservative Christian Howard Ahmanson, heir to a savings and loan fortune who has spent $75,000 in support of McClintock’s campaign. The Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians, which operates a San Jacinto casino, contributed $10,000.

* Jillian Manus, a literary agent who represents Newt Gingrich, among others, contributed $21,200. Ivan Reitman, who has produced and directed Schwarzenegger films, gave $10,000. Greg Jamison, president of the San Jose Sharks hockey team, made a $1,000 contribution.

Schwarzenegger also controls Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall, a pro-recall committee, which has raised more than $1.5 million.

Gov. Gray Davis controls this anti-recall committee.

* California trucking magnate Steven Beneto contributed $100,000. Beneto has been one of Davis’ largest supporters in past campaigns. A political action committee for the Assn. of California School Administration gave $25,000.

Davis also continues to raise money through his former reelection committee, the Gov. Gray Davis Committee, which has transferred $1.7 million to Californians Against the Costly Recall.

A third committee, Taxpayers Against the Governor’s Recall, has reported more than $2.2 million in contributions.

*Contributions to candidates from each outside source are limited to $21,200. There is no cap on the amount candidates can give their own campaigns, or on donations to noncandidacy committees.
