Central casting

Looks like the Ivy’s gonna be getting some competition. Nic Adler (the Roxy/On the Rox) is teaming with John and Bob Long (Atlantic/Georgia) to create the Central, a swell-egant new spot opening this summer on Sunset Boulevard. Designed by Madonna’s bro, Christopher Ciccone, the Central is taking its cues from Paris in the ‘40s but with a rock ‘n’ roll twist. Located just east of Sunset Plaza, the tony restaurant and lounge boasts a 150-foot balcony with a to-die-for view.

Bitty is big again

Blame it on Paris Hilton’s gams, but the micro-mini’s making a mad comeback. We bopped into Xes (pronounced “excess”) on Saturday and the Hollywood nightclub was loaded with gals sporting teensy-weensy, slinky dresses. In the house were hunky hubby Nick Lachey and darling diva Jessica Simpson. We also spotted Christina Aguilera, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mandy Moore and Jessica Alba shimmying to DJ David Orlando’s rock and hip-hop confection.

Among those who turned out for last week’s Black Eyed Peas/N.E.R.D. bash at the Conga Room were ultra-vixen Gwen Stefani, Val Kilmer and Jimmy Smits.... On Friday, the King King club in Hollywood is debuting a new night called Something About Rock, a periodic showcase of rock acts from L.A. and beyond. Opening night performers include Manic, Furious IV, Leisure and Fractional.

Musical spoof

Hot off the success of the Cavern Club Theater’s “Liza and David” show, the queens are back with “Dragspell,” a cross-dressing spoof of the ‘70s hippy-dippy musical “Godspell.” In “Dragspell” a fashion designer leads his flock into the land of haute couture. You can catch the show Friday and Saturday at the Cavern Club, which is inside Casita Del Campo restaurant in Silver Lake. Call (323) 969-2530 or go to www.cavernclub theater.com.

Trance inducing

DJ Armin Van Buren is scheduled to take a spin at Spundae on Saturday. The Holland-based star is touring in support of his new album, “A State of Trance 2004.” ... And if all this springtime joy’s got you down, head to Bobby’s Montebello Inn Saturday for a ghoulish night of horror-punk and psychobilly bands, including the Deep Eynde, Los Difuntos, Frankenstein and Coffin Draggers. Creepy.... The hoi polloi of Silver Lake will be out in full effect Friday to help Akbar break in its brand spanking-new dance floor.... And the groovy music club the Fold celebrates its seventh anniversary with a blowout at the El Rey Theatre on April 15. Among the performers are Dengue Fever, the Vacation, the Shore and Giant Drag.
