More Than a Game

What a pleasure it was to peruse “King for a Day in the Geeky Realm of Televised Trivia” (Commentary, April 13). As a trivia aficionado and Jeopardy junkie myself, I am used to hearing people denigrating game shows and labeling trivia as a colossal waste of time. However, learning trivia has its uses (besides enabling one to win in game shows). Acquiring trivia not only helps improve one’s memory but also sharpens one’s powers of observation and cultivates an eye for details. As Pablo Picasso once said, “Many trifles make perfection, but perfection is no trifle.” Long live trivia and game shows!
