Still-alluring ‘Confessions’
In a week of no major new releases, Usher held on to the top slot on the nation’s album chart after selling an additional 302,000 copies of “Confessions.”
That number pushed the album’s total sales to almost 2.4 million in four weeks.
Usher racked up more than twice the sales of the No. 2 seller, the 15th volume of the “Now That’s What I Call Music!” hits compilation series, which sold 122,000 last week.
The biggest movement in the top 20 rankings was a 15-point leap to No. 3 by Calabasas-based Hoobastank’s “The Reason.” The album’s sales increased just 6% over the previous week, to 74,000, but that was an exception, as sales of most albums in the top 20 dropped substantially last week.
The remaining top 10 slots are held by, in order, Janet Jackson, Guns N’ Roses, Norah Jones, Jessica Simpson, Evanescence, Lil’ Flip and Kanye West.
