Life Term for Killer of American Indian Activist
From Times Wire Reports
A man convicted of killing American Indian activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash in 1975 was sentenced to life in prison.
U.S. District Judge Lawrence Piersol handed down the mandatory sentence in Rapid City to Arlo Looking Cloud, who was convicted in February of first-degree murder committed in the perpetration of a kidnapping.
The judge also refused a request from Looking Cloud’s lawyer that would have prevented Aquash’s body from being taken to Canada for reburial by her family.
