2 Enter Not Guilty Pleas in Drug Fraud Case

Federal officials raided an Internet pharmacy run from San Diego that allegedly sold counterfeit pharmaceuticals.

The business purchased the active ingredients in Viagra, antidepressants, painkillers, hair-loss treatments and other medications in Mexico and India and combined them with unknown ingredients to make pills, federal officials said. The pills were sold to customers who paid $35 and filled out a questionnaire that was never reviewed by a physician, the officials said.

Pharmacist John Aldaz, 64, of Bonita and Tijuana pharmaceutical representative Jose Gustavo Garcia Uriza, 55, pleaded not guilty last week to charges of conspiracy, counterfeiting, fraud and money laundering.
