Bus Coach Plunges Into Ravine; 46 Killed

A coach plunged into a ravine in the mountainous northeast of El Salvador, killing 46 people and injuring about 20.
Nine children were among the dead when the coach went over the edge of the ravine and dropped 75 feet, rescue workers said. The accident happened on winding mountain roads near Carolina, 100 miles northeast of the capital, San Salvador.
Police said they believed mechanical failure was to blame.
