Two Sides to Pakistan
The tryst in the Oval Office by a military ruler on Dec. 5, “Bush Lauds the Efforts of Pakistani Ally,” as covered in The Times and smartly placed next to the worrisome report highlighting the possible nuclear proliferation activities involving that country’s scientists at largely military-managed atomic-weapon development programs, “Global Nuclear Inquiry Stalls,” is amusing at best. The generals of Pakistan cannot be all things at one time! The world and the White House need to figure out and decide on either of their traits of good or ill. The sooner, the better.
