Bruins Said to Be Making Progress

Congratulations to the Trojans -- their football team earned their way to the Orange Bowl and Reggie Bush is indeed a special player. But credit and respect must go to the Bruins, who stood toe to toe with them, like Rocky Balboa going against Apollo Creed.

While any loss to USC is painful for Bruin fans, I can say that, as a result of their performance in this game, I am extremely proud of UCLA football and quite optimistic about its future under Coach Karl Dorrell.

I guess things have now returned to their natural order. USC is the dominant football team in town, the Bruins are praised for a gutty effort that comes up short and, when the Trojans really need an extra little push, the men in the stripes are there to lend a helping hand (or in this case, a whistle).
