Eccentric Arrested in Suffocation of Father
A man known for his eccentric behavior has been arrested on suspicion of killing his father, a former weapons lab scientist, authorities said.
Hans Aaland, 46, is a familiar character in Livermore, known for riding a 12-foot-high unicycle and passing out leaflets.
Police said Aaland allegedly smothered his 80-year-old father, Kristian Aaland, early Saturday while he was sleeping in the home that he shared with his son and wife.
Police said Hans Aaland told his mother what he had done, left a note full of biblical quotations and left the home.
