Lone Star State Loyalist Takes Exception

Share

As a Texan living in Los Angeles, I could only laugh reading George Skelton’s Dec. 9 column, “Football Outrage Takes Bloom Off Rose Bowl Tradition.” George, I’m really sorry things haven’t been going your way lately.

What else can you blame on Texas? Popular country music is pretty bad, and a lot of those singers are from Texas. So tack that onto the list.

Who else but the Lone Star State could be held responsible for the TV craze of Texas Hold ‘Em? And Texans have been driving sport utility vehicles since the ‘80s, long before the craze made it to your hallowed West. I guess we’ll assume the burden of being the trendsetters on that one.

I’m OK with the fact that I’m not welcome here. I’ll go ahead and take my illegal immigrant status and wear it proudly. In this state, that means I’ll soon be able to vote, attend public schools and drive extra slow on the highways.
