Settlement Reached Over Flood Deaths, Damage

A lawsuit over a 1997 Yuba County flood that killed three people and destroyed 850 homes will cost the state and county $47 million to settle, said the Appeal-Democrat of Marysville-Yuba City.
Heavy January rains seven years ago caused a levee to rupture on the Feather River near the town of Arboga, flooding hundreds of acres of farmland. Without admitting any liability, state and local officials have accepted the terms of the settlement.
