Newspaperman Tapped for Post of Envoy to U.S.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun has nominated newspaper executive Hong Seok-hyun as ambassador to the United States, state-run KBS television said.
Hong is chairman and publisher of the JoongAng Ilbo newspaper and president of the Paris-based World Assn. of Newspapers.
Educated at Seoul National University and Stanford University, Hong was formerly an economist at the World Bank and a secretary at the presidential Blue House.
