USC (5-2) at Brigham Young (5-2), 3 p.m. PST -- The Trojans, winners of four consecutive games, step up in class on the road against three strong opponents in Brigham Young, Texas Christian and UCLA. They start at Provo, Utah, with the Cougars, whose three-game winning streak was ended by Hawaii last week. Senior forwards Kristen Kozlowski and Ambrosia Anderson are the scoring leaders, each averaging 12.9 points. Freshman guard Brynn Cameron (9.7) is one of three Trojans who average at least nine points a game.

MEN

Pepperdine (7-2) at Bradley (5-1), 5 p.m. PST -- The teams are meeting for the third consecutive season. Pepperdine won last year’s game, 81-80, in Malibu. The Waves are trying to shake off a last-second loss at UCLA last week, a game in which they held a five-point lead with 1:43 remaining. Though many players are off to strong starts, forward Yakhouba Diawara isn’t one of them. Diawara’s numbers -- 12.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 44.6% from the field, 61% from the free-throw line -- are all down from last season’s All-West Coast Conference campaign. Bradley, whose only loss is to Bowling Green, has wins over DePaul and Butler. Marcellus Sommerville is the Braves’ leading scorer at 19.2 points, but they are also getting a lift from 7-foot freshman center Patrick O’Bryant (11.5 points, 9.3 rebounds).

Montana (4-4) at UC Santa Barbara (1-4), 7 p.m., KTLK (1340) -- Santa Barbara is shooting 42.9% from the field and has made 78 turnovers and had only 54 assists. Forward Casey Cook has struggled as defenses have begun to focus on him. Cook, who had 36 points in his first two games, is averaging eight points on 26.7% shooting in his last three games. Montana, coached by former NBA player Larry Krystkowiak, is starting a three-game swing on the West Coast. The Grizzlies’ top players are junior guard Kevin Criswell and senior forward Kamarr Davis.

San Diego State (4-4) at Loyola Marymount (5-2), 7 p.m., KXLU-FM (88.9) -- After pushing 18th-ranked Washington for much of the game on Sunday before falling, the Lions can use another key nonconference win at home before playing their next five away. Loyola guard Adoyah Evans-Miller aggravated a chronic back condition in the game at South Alabama and will be out for an extended period of time. San Diego State lost its season opener, then won four in a row before losing its last three games to Washington, Cal and St. Mary’s. Forward Marcus Slaughter (19.5 points, 8.4 rebounds) and guard Brandon Heath (17.0 points), who played at nearby Westchester High, are their leading scorers.
