Judi Dash’s article, “Gadgets for When Every Second Counts” [Gear & Gadgets, Jan. 4], omits one of the most cost-effective travel time-telling devices. The battery-operated analog alarm clock available for $15 or less from many manufacturers is compact, reliable and easy to set.

I’ve had too many co-workers miss appointments because of mistakes in wake-up calls and an inability to figure out a hotel clock radio. A cheap little alarm clock would have saved them.
