A psychiatric hospital in San Leandro, which is part of the Alameda County Medical Center, failed an inspection in four of seven areas investigated by the federal government this week.

The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services found the 80-bed John George Psychiatric Pavilion to be out of compliance, said Jeff Raleigh, medical center spokesman.

He did not know which areas failed inspection. The hospital has come under scrutiny after the death of a physician, allegedly at the hands of a patient, and the suicide of another physician.

“The medical center started yesterday addressing the situation and is coming up with a plan to correct the deficiencies,” Raleigh said, adding the plan should be available in 10 days.
