“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest will take over the KIIS-FM (102.7) morning drive-time show that veteran radio personality Rick Dees vacated Tuesday, Clear Channel Los Angeles executives confirmed Wednesday.

Seacrest, who recently left his afternoon drive-time job at KYSR-FM (Star 98.7) to devote more time to his TV career, confirmed his new gig on Wednesday during his “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” syndicated TV series. Seacrest had been Dees’ designated guest host.

No start date was announced for the revamped morning show, which will originate from the same studio at the Hollywood & Highland complex where Seacrest tapes his daily TV show. Seacrest will be joined by Ellen K, who was Dees’ co-host.

Dees, who hosted the morning show for 22 years, will continue to host his “Rick Dees Weekly Top 40” on Sundays. Seacrest also has a weekly countdown show, “American Top 40,” which he took over from Casey Kasem.
