The Darkness, a group whose flamboyant style has made it a love-it-or-hate-it arrival on the English rock scene, was the top winner at the Brit Awards ceremonies held Tuesday in London.

The Darkness took the honors as best British group, best British rock act and best British album, for “Permission to Land.”

The Brits, England’s counterpart to the Grammys, also passed out awards to Dido (best British female solo artist and best British single), Justin Timberlake (best international male solo artist, best international album), Busted (British breakthrough award and best pop act), Basement Jaxx (best British dance act) and Daniel Bedingfield (best British male solo artist).
