Tyler Baze Will Work the Night Shift Too

Share

After he completes his obligations at Santa Anita today, jockey Tyler Baze will head to Los Alamitos, where he’ll ride Deal Buster in the first of two 870-yard trials for the Catalina Derby.

Owned and trained by Laura Pinelli, Deal Buster is a 3-year-old daughter of the thoroughbred sire Grand Slam, which means she should relish 870 yards. She’s winless in seven tries at 300 or 350 yards.

Baze, who rode Heros Call to victory in the Marathon National for Pinelli in December, and Deal Buster will break from the rail in the field of five.

In the other trial, Rockin The Ship, a thoroughbred, will make his first start since he won going a quarter of a mile at Santa Anita on March 13.

Gary Boag will ride for trainer Shane Chipman against Shake The Dice, Termination, Mi Red One and Cee Jj Run.
