Student Gets 33 Months for ID Theft

A Pierce College student has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for using credit card and other information stolen from customers at Six Flags Magic Mountain to buy tickets for airline flights and sporting events.
Nicholas E. Dean, 24, of Mission Hills was also ordered Wednesday to pay nearly $14,000 in restitution to Ticketmaster and Southwest Airlines.
Dean, who pleaded guilty to fraud charges last year, admitted stealing the identities of more than 50 people to make online purchases of tickets for airline flights and Lakers and Clippers games. He then sold the tickets, often at prices well below face value.
Prosecutors said he obtained the information from a girlfriend who processed annual passes at Magic Mountain in Valencia. The girlfriend, Veronica S. Jones, 21, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and earlier received three years’ probation.
