Another victim of ‘tween-home blues

I read the story “No Place to Go” [by David Voda, Dec. 28] with mild amusement.

A couple of months between houses? Try 2 1/2 years! Yup, that’s how long my husband and I went between permanent dwellings. We sold our three-bedroom Mission Viejo home within 30 days in November 1996 and found a place to rent only two days before closing. What we thought would be an easy three-to-four-month search for a new home extended far beyond that as we found that the type of house we wanted -- single story, four bedrooms, not a corner lot and not abutting a major street -- just wasn’t for sale in the area we wanted. And when one did come up for sale, half a dozen people had beaten us to it.

Our patience was rewarded in July 1999 as we were the first to find a home meeting our description and got the first offer in. One upside of the wait was that my husband didn’t have to mow a lawn for nearly three years.
