Silent too long

Gayle POLLARD-TERRY’S article on Essie Williams (“Return to a New Life,” Jan. 13) leaves a lot of questions about her timing and motive. Since Williams chose not to reveal that Sen. Strom Thurmond was her father while he was alive, she missed a historic opportunity to thwart the action that led to continued segregation policies in our country.

She is certainly not a Rosa Parks, and by being silent she contributed to the suffering of many people.
