Loyola Picks Up Win

Sherman Gay scored 20 points, half during a four-minute burst in the first half, leading Loyola Marymount to a 74-56 victory over Northern Colorado at Gersten Pavilion Tuesday night.

Gay, the Lions’ leading scorer, had 14 in the first half and was 9 for 11 from the field. Three other Lions (10-7) scored in double figures. Keith Kincade had 17 points, Matthew Knight had 14 and Charles Brown 13.

Michael Frazier led Northern Colorado with 15 points, and made all seven of his free throws.

The loss for Northern Colorado (3-17) was its sixth in a row and 15th in the Bears’ last 16 games.

Sixteen of Loyola’s first-half points came off Northern Colorado turnovers. The Bears turned the ball over 17 times before halftime and 23 times total.
