Two men were shot to death outside an apartment complex in Long Beach, and two more were killed by gunfire in an unrelated incident at a nightclub in Pico Rivera, officials said Wednesday.

The first shooting occurred about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard in Long Beach, said Long Beach Police Officer Greg Schirmer.

Officers responding to a call about a possible shooting found two young men on the pavement, Schirmer said.

Both men were pronounced dead at a hospital. Their names weren’t released, and Schirmer said the motive and circumstances surrounding the attack were unknown.

About three hours later, an argument over gang affiliations erupted among several young men at the El Rodeo nightclub at 8825 Washington Blvd. in Pico Rivera, said Deputy Bryan Lendman of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“A suspect pulled a gun and started shooting,” Lendman said.

Three men were shot. One died at the scene, a second died at a hospital and a third was being treated for his wounds, Lendman said.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the dead men as Eprin Padilla, 30, and Ramon Oseguera, 27, both of Los Angeles. The survivor’s name and medical condition were not released.

Deputies said the gunman fled in a pickup truck that was spotted a few minutes later by California Highway Patrol officers. The pickup was later found abandoned in Los Angeles, Lendman said.
