Loyola of Maryland’s Losing Streak Reaches 30

Peter Mulligan scored 28 points to help Manhattan rout Loyola of Maryland, 96-63, Friday night in New York, handing the Greyhounds their 30th consecutive loss.

The Jaspers (13-3, 8-0 Metro Atlantic extended their winning streak to eight.

Loyola (0-17, 0-8) is three short of the NCAA Division I record of 33 consecutive losses set by Grambling from Dec. 6, 1999, to Dec. 16, 2000.

It has been more than a year since Loyola’s last victory, 74-69, in overtime over Rider on Jan. 19, 2003.

Army (4-12, 1-3 Patriot League) made only seven of 36 shots (19.4%) and had its lowest point total since 1941 in a 56-23 loss to Bucknell (6-11, 2-2) at West Point, N.Y. ... Hawaii (13-3, 5-1 Western Athletic Conference) shot 52% (33 of 63) in an 85-63 victory over Texas El Paso (12-4, 3-3) late Thursday night in Honolulu. The win moved Hawaii into a first-place tie with Rice. The Owls (13-4, 5-1) knocked Fresno State (9-7, 5-2) out of first place by beating the Bulldogs, 65-63, on Jason McKrieth’s 18-foot jump shot with one second left at Fresno.
