The Beastie Boys’ “To the 5 Boroughs” album lasted only one week on top of the national pop sales chart, giving way Wednesday to another hip-hop entry: Jadakiss’ “Kiss of Death.”

The CD -- another solo effort from the rapper who attracted attention as a member of the Lox -- easily topped the field by selling 246,000 copies in its first week in stores.

The runner-up spot was claimed by Usher’s “Confessions” album, which sold 149,000 additional copies last week. The figure pushed total sales of that CD to 4.5 million copies since its release in March.

“Boroughs,” which had sold 360,000 in its first week, sold 143,000 in its second week, giving it third place on this week’s chart.

Three other new releases entered the Top 10: Boston teen JoJo (No. 4 with 95,000 albums sold), the soundtrack for “Spider-Man 2” (No. 7 with 82,000 copies) and alt-country band Wilco (No. 8 with 81,000 sold).

Prince’s “Musicology” holds the fifth spot on the chart (92,000), while Gretchen Wilson, the country singer with the hit “Redneck Woman,” finished sixth (86,000) with her debut album, “Here for the Party.”

Velvet Revolver, the hard rock band featuring former members of Guns N’ Roses and the Stone Temple Pilots, is No. 9 with “Contraband” (79,000).
