Slain Militant Not Key Cleric, Top Official Says

A senior Saudi official denied that a militant killed in a shootout with police was a cleric believed to be the chief ideologist for Al Qaeda in the region.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, had said that the man slain Wednesday during a car chase and shootout with police was Abdullah Mohammed Rashid Roshoud, one of the most wanted terrorism suspects in Saudi Arabia.
But Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz, deputy governor of Riyadh, said Roshoud was not killed.
