Fireworks Confiscated From Several Vendors
From Times Staff Reports
Fire and police officials confiscated illegal fireworks Sunday from more than a dozen vendors around the city.
Undercover investigators found fireworks being sold on the counters of convenience stores, out of the trunks of cars and, in two instances, from sidewalk ice-cream carts, said Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Fireworks have been illegal in Los Angeles for more than 60 years.
The cases will be referred to the city attorney and district attorney for possible prosecution, Humphrey said.
