Female Suicide Bomber Kills Four Police Officers
From Times Wire Reports
Security forces were on high alert today after a Tamil Tiger bomber detonated explosives at a police station, killing herself and four officers, authorities said.
It was the first such attack in Colombo, the Sri Lankan capital, since the Tamil Tiger rebels signed a cease-fire in 2002. Nine people were wounded in Wednesday’s blast.
Security in Colombo had been relaxed after the truce, which halted two decades of fighting that killed nearly 65,000 people.
