Emergency Declared Over Hospital Patients

Clark County officials have declared a state of emergency after the number of mental health patients in area hospitals reached critical mass, allowing the county to tap into $100,000 in state emergency funds to reduce the number of such patients in emergency rooms.
Nearly 1 in 3 emergency room beds was occupied by someone with mental illness, officials said.
