Boat of Rescued Sailor Sinks Into Pacific

The 35-foot sailboat of a Japanese sailor, rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard, sank in the ocean about 100 miles west of here.
A Coast Guard helicopter hoisted Hideo Dan, 49, out of his life raft Wednesday morning.
He had set off Saturday from San Francisco to Osaka, via Honolulu, in his sailboat Fumiyuka V, whose rudder shaft later broke.
