American League Cy Young winner Roy Halladay was put on the 15-day disabled list by the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday because of soreness in his right shoulder. It is his first time on the disabled list. The move was retroactive to May 28. The Blue Jays recalled right-hander Bob File from triple-A Syracuse.

Halladay skipped his scheduled start in Seattle on Tuesday after feeling discomfort before the game. He was scratched and left-handed reliever Jason Kershner took his place. Kershner will start in Halladay’s place Sunday.
