Former Symbol Technologies Inc. Chief Executive Tomo Razmilovic, indicted last week on charges of conspiring to commit accounting fraud, is a fugitive, the Justice Department said Wednesday.

Razmilovic, 62, will not appear at an arraignment today to enter a plea to fraud charges and to have bail set, his lawyer said, according to prosecutors. The ex-CEO was indicted with seven other former Symbol executives for his role in an alleged $230-million accounting fraud at the company, the world’s largest seller of bar code scanners.

“We consider him a fugitive,” said Robert Nardoza, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn.
