Slopes, Slides and Tsunamis:

The Ocean Institute at Dana Point’s interactive exhibit, which closes Sunday, allows visitors to build their own sea floor, make a landslide and cause a tsunami (also known as a tidal wave). They can learn how scientists use sound to explore the ocean bottom and below and find out the scientific connection between underwater landslides, burning ice and tsunamis. The institute also offers such family fare as oceanographic cruises, shark and moon jelly viewings, hundreds of living ocean animals, and other interactive educational programs and hands-on exhibits and activities.

Ends Sunday at the Ocean Institute, 24200 Dana Point Harbor Drive, Dana Point. (949) 496-2274.
