From Associated Press

United Airlines, a unit of UAL Corp., filed a new application for a federal loan guarantee, less than a week after federal authorities rejected a similar request.

The airline declined to reveal how much it is seeking in its new application.

The Air Transportation Stabilization Board confirmed the new filing, but no details were provided and the filing was not made public.

The application marks the third attempt by the Elk Grove Village, Ill.-based airline to secure federal assistance.

The board last week turned down United’s request to guarantee $1.6 billion of its $2 billion in pending private loans. But two of three agencies involved with the panel signaled a willingness to consider revisions.
