From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Move over for the plover. For the next seven months, about 11 miles of beaches west of Lompoc are generally off-limits to people because of the threatened Western snowy plover nesting season, which runs March 1 to Sept. 30.
Trespassers in closed-off areas face fines of up to $5,000.
Small portions of Surf, Wall and Minuteman beaches at Vandenberg Air Force Base will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays through Mondays. The beaches are closed the remainder of the week.
