Review of Police Firing on Motorists Is Sought

From Times Staff Reports

After a Times report that Los Angeles Police Department officers had fired on motorists more than 100 times since 1985, City Councilman Jack Weiss called Tuesday for a review of all such shootings and their consequences.

Weiss’ measure calls for a report from the Police Commission, the LAPD and the city attorney summarizing the cases since 1985. He seeks information on each case, including whether the shooting led to retraining of officers.
