Rail Workers Find No Bombs Despite Threats
From Times Wire Reports
Ten thousand rail workers who combed 20,000 miles of France’s sprawling track network found no bombs after officials received threats that rail lines would be blown up unless millions of dollars were paid.
Crime specialists said an individual might be behind the extortion, even though letters making the threats said they came from a little-known group called AFZ.
An Interior Ministry official said 600 police were working full time on the case.
